The month of June is full of new beginnings. It’s the month of graduations, weddings, anniversaries, and the honoring of our fathers. We launch out on new journeys and vacations, and in the housing market, it can be one of the hottest times of the year for home sales. It is often the time to let go of the old- whether it is a home, a job through retirement, or it can be a major move.

Moving for a senior can be an overwhelming idea for them to even comprehend. They may be in a home where they have spent over 50 years of their lives there, where they raised their children, tended to their yard, and shared the most precious moments of their lives. In their world, their home is the most familiar thing in their world, and when they realize that they cannot take care of it anymore, or it doesn’t support them the pressure of the inevitable can become overwhelming.

We have always worked with families when changes are happening. The change can be downsizing, moving to a new city to be closer to family, it might be a move to retirement living, assisted living or memory care. It might be a new living arrangement in moving in with family. It can be a major ordeal, not only for a senior but also for the family around them.

The good news is that most of the stress happens due to lack of knowledge or resources. We can help you make these changes much easier! Our experts can help make the emotional trauma to let go of what is familiar, i.e., a home, to an unknown new beginning to something to look forward to. With a little preparation, and more understanding, these emotional traumas can lessen, if not completely relieved to the point of anticipation and joy!

If you or a family member is looking forward to any form of major transition, you will learn a lot this month as our experts share with you about how you can make this transition easier on you and your family.

At Answers for Elders this month, we focus on CROSSROADS, TRANSITIONS AND NEW BEGINNINGS. We will help you and your family to minimize stress when big changes come.

Have a wonderful summer!
