Covid Protocols are Strictly being followed for 12 Days of Goodness this Year.
Since 2014, we have actively had a mission to touch the hearts of seniors over the holiday season by teaming up with Seahawks Legends each year. Since that time, our seniors have truly looked forward to this event, where they can reminisce about their earlier memories of Seahawks games, and their own fandom in their younger years! Even today, many (if not most) of our local seniors are huge fans, and thus, when 12 Days of Goodness comes around, it’s an event not to miss.
Our seniors wait with anticipation on which legends will visit their community centers! They look forward to the gift tables from those in their communities, and they also are preparing which of their swag wardrobe they will wear! They come with items for legends to autograph, and they certainly are thrilled when they can share specific memories of days gone by.
Sadly, due to COVID, we had to pass on doing the event last year. Yet today, nearly 92% of adults over 65 have had at least one vaccine dose and over 81% are fully vaccinated, higher than any other age group, according to data from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention from last week. After a 15 month time-stretch of quarantine, we are committed to making the event happen this year. It will be a bit different, but our older adults have, in many cases, been quarantined over 15 months. They have endured loneliness, depression, and sadly, watched loved ones die.
With so much sadness, we want to make sure that we find a way to bring 12 Days of Goodness back again this year. To do so, Answers for Elders is teaming up with the Sea Hawkers’ Central Council — The Official Booster Club of the Seattle Seahawks, to make sure that volunteers are screened and fully vaccinated, and that strict protocols are followed. This includes:
- Volunteers showing proof of vaccination, and wearing masks during the events.
- Gift table exhibitors, sponsors’ representatives and legends will be asked to also be fully vaccinated and masked at the events.
- No “super fans” will be allowed to participate this year, with very few exceptions.
- One event — on 12/12 — will be Fan’s Day. It will be a day where Sea Hawkers’ Chapters will be hosting smaller watch parties for the Houston Texans’ game, visiting seniors in their communities!
More information is to be revealed soon, but rest assured — We are working closely with Community Center Events Coordinators to minimize risks and our number one priority is to keep everyone safe! Go Hawks!!
